Post-game reactions after Charleroi - Club

Jupiler Pro League

Club Brugge beat Charleroi after an exciting end of the game. Plenty to talk about.

Simon Mignolet: "When the ball came to him I had a good feeling about it"

"Fortunately, we didn't drop any points today. It was a difficult first half, but in the second period we improved and forced some chances. We were helped a bit by that red card and the spot kick, but we were pushed to the limit. It's always difficult down here in Charleroi, especially after a difficult game in Madrid. The cup tie over here also saw a well organised Charleroi side, and so it was tonight. We were in control in the second half, looking for chances. Ordóñez does have a good shot, when the ball came to him I had a good feeling about it. Now next week we have to go full out against Anderlecht to keep those points at home."

Christos Tzolis: "The pitch prevented us from playing fine football"

"We played well in the second half. We were dominant with lot of pressure. We got those three points in the end and that's just great. The pitch really prevented us from playing fine football. It wasn't that easy. We always want to play our game and a bad pitch makes that hard. The opponent knows the pitch way better than we do, so it took some searching. In the second half, though, we were much better and more dominant, so I think we deserved the win. We didn't know the result of the Union game. We are trailing one point, but we are only focussing on ourselves. It's good that they lost points, but we have to push through now. We have to keep performing well, and we'll see in the playoffs. We now have to shift the focus to next Sunday, to the game against Anderlecht."

Ivan Leko: "I think this was well-deserved"

"A very difficult match, as always here in Charleroi for any team. A lot of duels where the ball was more in the air than on the ground. In addition, we also knew beforehand that the conditions of the pitch were difficult (for any team), so we had to adjust accordingly."

"The first half was very difficult for us. We had the ball, but had difficulty bringing depth to our game. I also thought we were a little too passive at times, but it wasn't easy to play progressive football. They then scored on a second ball after a cross, enabling them to play their preferred game. They defended strongly and with a lot of power, but I think our second half was good. We put good pressure and passed the ball around well. By the end we score that winning goal and I think it was deserved because we were the better team the whole second half."

"From now on we have one more game a week and that does require a different preparation. We can go into more detail and both physically and mentally it will be different. Today it was very difficult to make the switch from the Champions League to the Jupiler Pro League. We did our best and in the second half you saw the Club we wanted to see."

"We are looking forward to that very important game next week. Both for us and for Anderlecht, this is always the match of the season. They are in a good flow now with two wins in a row. So it will be an important match; tonight we will first enjoy this victory a bit. As of tomorrow we will be shifting our focus to next weekend's clash."
