Club draws 2-2 with Rangers

Voorbereiding 2025-2026

Club played out a 2-2 draw at Rangers on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Hugo Vetlesen and summer signing Ludovit Reis quickly scored for Club, but Mouhamed Diomandé and Findlay Curtis erased that lead in the second half.

Mignolet started this friendly with Sabbe, Spileers, Mechele and Seys in front of him as the back four. In midfield captain Hans Vanaken played alongside Vetlesen and Reis. Up front we had Tzolis, Vermant and Skóraś.

Club started the game lively with a first goal after just eleven minutes play, when Vetlesen pounced home a rebound. Three minutes later our latest signing Reis volleyed the ball into the top right corner from just outside the box to make it two.

Rangers restored the balance after the first quarter of an hour with a rasping effort to test Mignolet, but he did well to tip it around his goalpost. At the half-hour mark Tzolis was played in brilliantly by Vanaken, but the Greek fired it against the post.

After an innocent looking contact, Reis went down and fell on his shoulder which ultimately led to an early substitution from the Dutchman. He was replaced by Osuji. At half-time seven new players came on for Blauw-Zwart: Jackers, Et-Taïbi, Romero, Gomez Van Hoogen, Sandra, Campbell and Nilsson.

The hosts came out strongest out of the dressing room. The controlled the game and pulled one back on 52 minutes through Diomandé. Ten minutes later coach Hayen brought on Furo, Lund Jensen and Bisiwu for Skóraś, Vetlesen and Spileers.

Rangers were still the dominant team in the second period and eventually scored the equaliser through Curtis, with just minutes on the clock. And so this friendly match ended all square.
