Club Brugge has started the pre-season campaign with a 2-0 win over Kortrijk at the Basecamp, thanks to a Vince Osuji brace.
Simon Mignolet started as captain, lining up behind a defensive quartet of Sabbe, Spileers, Romero, and Seys. In midfield, Audoor and Osuji sat behind Vetlesen, while Vermant led the line flanked by Sandra and Campbell. The first threat came via a shot from Challouk, but soon after, Blauw-Zwart took control. Twice they built from the left, first through Campbell and then Seys, but Sandra couldn’t convert either delivery. A strike from Vetlesen was also blocked.
Midway through the first half, Club took the lead. Following a cross from Spileers, Vermant’s header struck the post, but the rebound fell kindly for Vince Osuji, who fired home for 1-0. Moments later, goalkeeper Ilic had to be alert to deny Vetlesen. Though KV Kortrijk combined well at times, it was the Bruges side who struck again. A long clearance from Mignolet was headed back into the path of Osuji, and the Nigerian surprised Ilic with a strike from distance. Just before the break, it was nearly 3-0: Vetlesen's corner to the far post found Audoor in space, but his effort drifted wide.
After the break, only Mignolet remained on the pitch, with ten changes introducing players from Club NXT: Yameogo, Verlinden, Et-Taïbi, Van Hoogen, Goemaere, Delorge, Amengaï, Lund Jensen, Furo, and Bisiwu. As in the first half, Kortrijk threatened first—Boussadia intercepted a pass and fired narrowly wide. At the other end, Lund Jensen did well down the right, but his cross was turned behind for a corner.
Blauw-Zwart enjoyed the lion’s share of possession, though clear-cut chances were hard to come by. Fifteen minutes from time, the visitors carved out a golden opportunity: Leko Verbauwhede broke through on goal, but Mignolet produced a superb reflex save to preserve the clean sheet. In the dying moments, a speculative effort from Lund Jensen sailed well wide, and the match ended 2-0.
